    January 23 was Nebraska City's second speech meet at Lincoln Southwest. Facing tough competition, Chloe Higgins and Ashley Robinson made Duet semifinals. Joslynn Hudson broke Humorous Interpretation semifinals. Emily Jensen made it all the way to Informative finals and ended up with 6th place.
    NCHS attended Lincoln Northeast's tournament the next week and experienced tons of success. Chloe Higgins broke both Persuasive finals and Informative finals, ending up with 2nd and 4th respectively. Justin Thorne broke Entertainment finals, and came in second place. His duet with Joslynn Hudson also made 4th place in Duet honor finals. Emily Jensen received 6th place in both Informative and Humorous Interpretation finals. Oliver Borchers-Williams earned 4th place in Extemporaneous and 4th place in Persuasive honor finals. The OID of Angelica StilesAubrey ThurmanLangston Hoover and Sarah Sullivan received 4th in their category's honor finals. NCHS took 5th place overall, beating out many other teams.
    The week after that- February 6- was the Crete invitational. Each category was incredibly difficult, but several team members were able to make finals. Oliver Borchers-Williams came in 2nd place in Extemporaneous finals and 6th place in Persuasive honor finals. Emily Jensen received 6th place in Informative finals. Justin Thorne won Entertainment honor finals, and Joslynn Hudson made 4th place in Humorous honor finals. NCHS' team won the distinction of being the top class B school at the tournament as well.
    Auburn's speech tournament is this Saturday and the EMC speech tournament is the week after. Good luck to all competitors!
