On Friday, December 13th, members of the Nebraska City High School
speech team competed at the Lincoln High School meet. Team member Ellie
Higgins was the champion of the meet in serious prose, runner-up in
humorous prose, and placed sixth in impromptu speaking. Additionally,
Higgins was the highest individual scorer at the meet and won the
triathlon award, which goes to the individuals who score the most points
individually. This will be the teams only meet before the holiday
break. We are an exceptionally young team this year, but it is clear the
new members to the team are very passionate for the activity so I am
eager to see their performances throughout the season and to see the
